School Attendance
Parents have a legal obligation to see that their children attend school regularly.
Children are expected to be at school from the first to the last day of each term, inclusive.
Learners are expected to arrive in time for the start of school each day.
Absence must be explained in writing.
Fees
School Fees are the life-line of the school. School fees are adopted annually by the Parent Body, at the Budget meeting. A 12-15% increase can be expected annually.
REALITY CHECK
A parent is liable to pay school fees determined in terms of Section 39 of the SASA 1996, unless to the extent that s/he has been exempt from payment in terms of the Act.
The Governing Body may by the process of law enforce the payment of school fees by parents who are liable to pay.
Concessions granted are NOT recovered from the State. Effectively, the shortfall is subsidized by the other parents in the form of increased school fees.
Reduced fee recovery WILL affect your child’s education.
Funding this school has to be a TEAM EFFORT.
In terms of the South African Schools Act, school fees are payable in advance. The GB has noted with some concern that not everyone prioritizes school fees and some are exploiting the school’s goodwill. This will not be accommodated going forward. The Governing Body is already taking a much firmer line and this will continue in 2012. Fees for 2012 will be payable in advance and the necessary action will be taken to recover the arrears.
Please pay your fees when you join “THE HPS TEAM”. You owe it to your children.
