Parental Involvement
Governing Body
Hillcrest Primary School is managed by a pro-active Governing Body, comprising parents with specific expertise, school management and community representatives. At present, the Governing Body has the power to determine the following within the school:
- the mission, goals and objectives
- the admission policy, with the concurrence of the Member of the Executive Council
- the language policy, subject to the appropriate national and provincial policy
- the policy for religious observance
- the curriculum in terms of provincial policy, subject to the South African Qualifications Act, 1995
- the extra-mural curriculum
- the budget and administration thereof
- the fees payable by parents of learners and to oversee the collection thereof.
Parents Committees
Committees are open to all interested parents and provide a wide range of services, for which we are truly indebted. They include:
- Mother Committee
- floral art
- thrift shop
- J.P. Media
- S .P. Media
- baking
- catering
- tea-serving
- sewing
- gardening
- re-cycling
- Mums-who-Care prayer group.
